Isaac Carree “Uncommon Me”: CD Review (don’t sleep.. this is a must have- It’s FLAWLESS!)
Imagine having the backing of one of the most cutting edge choirs of our time in John P Kee and the New Life Community Choir…The shoulder of three other talented men in one of the premiere male contemporary quartets of our generation in Men of Standard… A piece of the stage with one of the greatest gospel artists of our time in Kirk Franklin.
Then they are no more… It’s just you and a mic. That’s some serious pressure but trust me…Isaac Carree can handle it because he was born for this!
You need this in your collection! Isaac is smooth, poised, confident, and vocally amazing. This CD has substance, character, great production, and beautiful instrumentation! Each song is tailored for Isaac’s voice and style. The brother is sharp as a tack in these photos too! Take notes fellas!
The Review:
“The Opening” was filled with beautiful instrumentation and flowed seamlessly into the first song “Chances“. It’s not everyday that a CD that starts off with a ballad but this song is like a master artist with his paintbrush on canvas. Isaac is a brilliant vocalist and the words are heartfelt.
Isaac does fails to give us great vocals and encouragement on “In the Middle“, which has proven to be a song that will have you bobbing your head.
He tackles “We Are Not Ashamed“, which is a male take on the song that was presented on an earlier Karen Clark Sheard CD. He effortlessly takes us through this song with heavy strings and Pastor John P Kee joins him to drop that special something that these two have cultivated on the song.
The title cut, “Uncommon Me“, is a mix between a ballad and an anthem for those who dare to live on another level. The background arrangement is crazy stupid and he glides through his riffs like a cruise ship on a calm ocean. This is riding music!
Isaac teams up with Warryn Campbell befittingly in “Walk Alone”. Campbell’s work with MOS was impeccable and he doesn’t disappoint on this one.
Did I say that this is one of the smoothest CDs I’ve heard in a minute? Well it is and “Power” embodies that smoothness. Eric Dawkins‘ verse simply sends it onto another level. It is important to link up with people who understand your vocal ability and can pull it out of you… Mission accomplished!
The moment with his daughter on the CD is precious and “Shout it Out” threw me for a loop because it is SMOOTH TOO!!! I expected something different and was pleasantly surprised. I love the background harmony. Isaac is simply super on “Simply Redeemed” and he takes us into a bit of CCM with “I Worship You“. It’s an epic song that will translate over into worship services everywhere.
Did I say that you can listen all the way through this CD without skipping a track? Well you can… The song lyrics in “Navigation” are cleverly touching. That was excellent songwriting!
Isaac went smooth Go-Go on “Putcha One Hand Up“! This song would kill a live show. The bass and drums are riding!
Bottom line is you need to purchase this product! Isaac is effortlessly brilliant!
