What does the bible say about lawsuits? Glad you asked!

The year of 2011 has seen its fair share of lawsuits and the close of this year permitted one more to rear it’s ugly head in the case of Riva Tims against the New Destiny Christian Center Board of Directors and the newly appointed Paula White.  Well here’s what the bible says on lawsuits.

1 Corinthians 6

1Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

2Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

3Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

4If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

5I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

6But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

7Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

8Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

Selah (pause and calmly think on that)

Perhaps lawsuits are filed because the so-called saints refuse to do what the bible says “Come let us reason together”.  The bible clearly states that we should do so.  Is there not a wise person among them that can settle this matter or is everyone just thinking that they are right?

We saw it in the case of Darius Paulk and Travis Malloy with the song “Nobody Greater”.  If Travis composed the melody, why not give him his due?  Why sit back and force him into legal action to get his due?  Was there not a wise person who said this before the courts decided that he was right?

We need to get back to letting God’s word be true and EVERY man be a lie!

Any thoughts on the recent lawsuit filed by Riva Tim or lawsuits in the church in general?  Let us know your opinions here.. Comments are open.
