Top Grossing Hollywood Film Producer DeVon Franklin is Keynote Speaker for Nashville Church Lecture Series
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Top grossing Hollywood film executive, author, Christian minister, and motivational speaker, DeVon Franklin is the keynote speaker for the Saturday, February 11 installment of Riverside Conversations, a ministry of Riverside Chapel SDA Church. Riverside Conversations is an academic lecture forum that connects iconic professionals, athletes and entertainers with the Nashville community. The goal of the program is to offer community members of all ages an up-close experience with one of today’s heroes, hoping that many Nashville residents won’t have to settle for admiring from afar.
The lecture series continues with DeVon Franklin. Franklin is a rarity: an African-American studio executive at the forefront of Hollywood’s hit machine. He currently serves as Vice President of Production for Columbia Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment making him one of the youngest individuals in that position in the industry. Franklin has had his hand in some of the most powerful cinematic blockbusters including The Pursuit of Happyness, Hancock, and the remake of The Karate Kid. He was also a driving force behind the production of the faith-based hit Not Easily Broken and the family comedy, Jumping the Broom.
Franklin is formerly a studio executive of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) where he worked on John Travolta’s Be Cool and Queen Latifah’s Beautyshop. He’s a graduate of the University of Southern California and sits on the board of Film Independent and the American Black Film Festival.
Today, Franklin focuses on sharing his experience within the entertainment industry with others through his book Produced By Faith: Navigating the Road to Success Without Compromising Your True Self. The book aims to enlighten readers how to honor their faith and still succeed in their careers. Franklin believes that Hollywood hopefuls and young professionals alike have the ability to thrive in whatever area they are passionate about without abandoning their values for the sake of getting ahead. With his strong personal convictions and exceptional charisma, Franklin is an ideal speaker for the Riverside Conversations series.
Riverside Conversations featuring DeVon Franklin takes place on Saturday, February 11, at Riverside Seventh-Day Adventist Church which is located at 800 Youngs Lane, Nashville, Tennessee 37207.
