For those of us who have Direct TV, we missed last week’s episode on TV.  Fortunately, I was in the studio audience to experience the entire thing!! So now I can breathe and talk about what I think… yes we were sworn to secrecy .  So I have my picks and questions.  Who wants to rehash all of that though.. so on to the top 10 finalists and what to expect for episode 5 of Season 5 BET Sunday Best!

The Judges:  I’m glad they changed up the judges. CeCe Winans is looking for someone with a heart for God…. so refreshing! Donnie McClurkin is funny and real.  No matter how matter of fact Yolanda Adams was during the auditions, I tend to wish she’d have an original thought and not lead with “like CeCe said or like Donnie said”, but we’ll see as the season progresses.

During Episode 5 on July 22, 2o12,  we’ll be favored with a selection from JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise “After This”!  I can’t wait to see them sing in the studio. Now meet the top 10 finalists of BET Sunday Best

Michael Lampkin is a great singer and FYI- He’s Amber Bullock’s Pastor… hmmmm.. He’s a contender so don’t let that “that’s not really fair because he’s church member won last year”  or “he needs to be somewhere Pastoring” get you.. He can sing…I found him on YouTube singing “Great Things”

Danetra Moore- I’ve seen this young lady in action before and she’s an awesome soprano!  I’m hopefully, but we’ll see how far she gets. I understand she sang background for Sunday Best last year.. another… hmmmmmm…. Well she is no doubt talented.. Watch a video of her singing Safe in his arms from a church service…

Ashford Sanders- This is a cool big dude. He’s got that rare back that we love to hear and he just showed out when he performed. He also has a rendition of “Blessed Assurance” on Blackberry Records… He’s straight up QUARTET..His stance on stage makes him unforgettable. We’ll see how far he gets..:-).

Sara Encamilla- This young lady has a sweet voice and she’s got something different- She’s of Mexican descent, but she doesn’t let that deter her from the competition stage. I couldn’t find any video on her on You Tube so perhaps she is a a true discovery.. Here’s a piece of “He Touched Me” from Sara that I found on Sound Cloud.

I would love to see how far she goes.

Brian Luther- a brother from another mother?  The next Wess Morgan? We’ll let’s not label him.. He made it here on his own accord… Guess what? I found him on YouTube too. Here he is singing “Your Grace and Mercy”. He’s got a lil soul but should work on his timing on this song.. Well when you watch it you’ll think it so I just said it. .. lol.

Keith Ball- if you have been watching Sunday Best for any time, you’ve seen this man audition and he finally made it! I couldn’t find any performance footage so I have the audition tape from this season where he was in front of Byron Cage and Ricky Dillard.  The looks on the judges faces are priceless.

Joshua Rogers  - I dubb him the young buck!  He can sing people and I hope he gets to the finals! He’s dressed clean and has that Vashawn Mitchell mohawk going on… Guess what.. he has a channel on YouTube.. Choir Boy 2012.. subscribe. Here he is singing “The Blood”.  Man watch the entire channel.. He’s talented 

Jeremy Hill: He’s got a distinctive voice and even if he doesn’t make it, I expect to hear some more from this young man. Of course- We found him on YouTube so enjoy him singing “More” by Lawrence Flowers.

Kizzy Walker- I thought she was related to a Clark because of her look, she definitely can sing and has had a project out in the past.  Well we found her on the Dorinda Clark Cole show:
She has a place even if she doesn’t make it far in this competition. I hope she does make it!
Here’s my pick for WINNER: ALEXIS SPIGHT! This young lady tore up the audience when she sang “Nobody But Jesus”. She’s young, stylish and anointed! Pray that she continues on the path to God and that the enemy doesn’t try to snatch this young lady from the kingdom. I pray that she wins! I found her on YouTube singing “Forward” by Israel Houghton so enjoy and subscribe to her channel.. Isanggg2
