Well the competition is getting fierce and tonight two people will be eliminated from BET Sunday Best. Who will it be? hmmmm.
JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise opened up the show with their hit single “After This”. lol.. His singers were on point! I love Bishop McDaniel’s ad libs.
The Top 10 performed tonight and here are the songs that they sang as well as the highlights from the judges comments. I think that the best performance for the evening was ASHFORD SANDERS with “Millions Didn’t Make It”. He is just quartet and straight up from Canton Mississippi!
Performances
Sarah Encamilla- “I Love the Lord”. She started off a little shaky but she got better as she continued.
Judges Comments
CeCe- “You have to start out where you ended”
Yolanda- “Start where your heart is”
Donnie – “Sing with the passion that comes in your walk with Christ”
Keith Ball- Moving Rendition of “He’s Able”
Judges Comments
CeCe- “I think his last performance was stronger”
Yolanda- “Show it the next time”
Donnie – “Be a thinker. You have a good gift”
Joshua Rogers “Young Buck”- “God Has Not Forgot”- He got a little wild during the adlib but it was good performance.
Judges Comments
CeCe- “If That’s getting lost, lose me. You are spectacular”
Yolanda- “You killed us at the end. I thank you for that. I’m glad God has resurrection power”.
Donnie – “You have the capacity to be Sunday Best. All you have to do is listen and follow instruction”.
Brian Luther “Walk With Me Lord” – Brian’s performance was a little jazzy but seemed to lack a little luster. I hate that they gave him that song.
Judges Comments
CeCe- “When you get something new, sometimes you have to try something new”
Yolanda- “You did have all your notes so that’s cool. Stretch”
Donnie – “I think you have more than you offered us. You played it too safe”
Danetra Moore “Safe In His Arms” – I loved the key changes in this song. She killed on the second change and I felt like she played it safe at first but she killed it with that last note.
Judges Comments
CeCe- “Very pitchy. I don’t know if you could hear. You ended up in the right place”.
Yolanda- “I love your voice. I love where you took us. I do want to see more from you”
Donnie – “Honestly you almost missed this song”
Ashford Sanders “Millions Didn’t Make It”- I love the quartet in his voice and his confidence. CeCe knew he was killing that song and I’m sure that Marvin is somewhere smiling because he took it straight to quartet! If he makes a CD—- I’m IN LOL!!!
Judges Comments
CeCe- “You just sucked us in from beginning to end”.
Yolanda- “Charisma. You capture us every time you sing”.
Donnie – “You stayed in one spot and dominated the stage”.
Michael Lampkin- “Show Me This” He was very churchy and preachy during this song. You can’t help but be though. I enjoyed him but I wanted to hear a bit more singing and a little less holla…
Judges Comments
CeCe- “You take there. It’s not about you”
Yolanda- “You have the stage presence. You make us smile. You make us want to stay there with you”.
Donnie – “You cheated. There are certain song that you can inherently sing”.
Jeremy Hill- “Chasing After You”- I really didn’t like this rendition of this song… especially the “more”.. and the transition into the vamp.. He was really not that good tonight..
Judges Comments
CeCe- “Ended real strong”. “I would love to see you more relaxed and flow in who you are”.
Yolanda- “I enjoyed what you gave us”.
Donnie – “I don’t get a chance to hear the quality in your voice”.
Alexis Spight “Set Me Free” – This song was a change but she nailed her riffs and carried the song. This was not my favorite performance but she is my pick… so go ALEXIS!!!
Judges Comments
CeCe- “You had a lot going on. You gotta make sure you stay in the vain”
Yolanda- “Pace yourself and then take us to the sky”.
Donnie – “You have to learn the art of singing. There’s a method to it”.
Kizzy Walker- “It Aint Over till God Says It’s Over”. I can tell the she is influenced by the Clark Sisters and I’d like to see her do a different style. I don’t think this was her strongest performance. I don’t think she is going to last much longer.. but we’ll see.
Judges Comments
CeCe- “I don’t think it was as strong as her last performance”
Yolanda- “There were a couple of places.. you know we all go off”.
Donnie -” You gone get whipped cause you started off right and you decided that I’m gone amp this thing up”. “That last run was just horrible”.
The eliminated contestants for this week are:
Keith Ball and Jeremy Hill
