Lexi’s “Phenomenal”- A CD Review
Lexi, talk show host and inspirational artist, has a new project in the works entitled ”Phenomenal” that is due out on September 4th. Lexi captured our hearts on her talk show with her unique interview style and she showed us her comedic side in her latest parody videos on YouTube. She recently became an entertainment correspondent on the Yolanda Adams Morning Show.
Lexi had the following to say about her new project
“I picked songs that applied to where I am now. The album really gets back to the basics. The songs talk about God and about getting back to what’s important and what’s important is Him. My songs point towards Him.”
Lexi’s new CD “Phenomenal” is just that- Phenomenal. She has excellent vocal tone and she does this style of music to perfection. It has a certain international and multicultural appeal to it.
She led the effort with the release of a ballad, “Burn It All Down”, which is a prayer to God to eliminate the false idols that believers erect in their lives. The single reached #17 on Billboard and #13 on the Mediabase chart.
The remainder of the CD is pop gospel and I love it! 
Her lyrics are simple and fresh filled with adoration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The music is like a summer breeze or music that makes you want to put your top down on the highway. The first track, “Abide”, is a mid-tempo song that has a slight urban appeal but this as close as she comes to urban on this CD.
Lexi brings us uptempo tunes with catchy hooks in “Breakthrough”, “It is You”, “Majesty”, “Something About You”, and “None Like You”. She manages to capture the cross over appeal in these songs but the message is unmistakeable. She pulls this sound off perfectly.
The mid-tempo title track “Phenomenal” is a simple yet gorgeous song that can morph into a Praise and Worship track for a praise team at a more contemporary church. The track “I’ve Been Redeemed” is simple about how Jesus redeemed us all but it is beautiful as well.
I absolutely love the remake of “You Are Holy” as an uptempo song that looses none of its impact because the words haven’t changed.
