Marvin Sapp’s new school is GREAAT!
Marvin Sapp is a father, Pastor, gospel artist, and a community activist that’s putting legs to a vision that God gave him and his late wife Malinda Sapp. It is great to see a gospel artist giving back and impacting the community.
He’s opening a new school this fall called the Grand Rapids Ellington Academy of Arts and Technology or GREAAT for short!
The principle will be Tamela Brown, a leadership coach at Milwood Magnet School in Kalamazoo. She has a master’s degree in education from Grand Valley State University. She also has a bachelor’s degree in bio-medical sciences from Western Michigan University.
MaLinda Sapp was to have the role as Ellington Academy’s founding principal but she succumbed to a bout with cancer in the fall of 2010. Marvin is carrying on the vision.
The school will serve 225 students in grades sixth through eighth next school year, but plans to add a grade each year through 12th grade.
Marvin Sapp posted pictures of the fabulous school on his facebook account this week and made the following statement:
The school will open on September 4th. For more information, please log onto www.greaat.com.
