Tasha_Cobbs_Alternate_IMGWe had the pleasure of sitting down with worship leader, Tasha Cobb to discuss her new CD, “Grace” and her latest activities since the release of her project.  Her CD was recorded live in Montgomery Alabama and was produced by Vashawn Mitchell.

Tasha was gracious and kind.   She understands her purpose in the earth and she desires to lead God’s people into worship. Tasha did loose weight with assistance as she called it. In other words, she had some type of surgery.

Check out what Tasha had to say:

TashaCobbs_Cover_FINAL

TashaCobbs_Cover_FINALEMI Gospel recording artist Tasha Cobbs’ debut album, Grace, will be aggressively priced and available in stores and online Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Great anticipation has landed Grace at #1 on Amazon’s Gospel Albums chart even before the album’s release date. Cobbs’ new single, “Break Every Chain,” is breaking records on radio and retail charts: the single debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Digital Gospel Song chart. Additionally, “Break Every Chain” was the #1 most added song at gospel radio the week it entered at #27 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart.

The lyric video of “Break Every Chain” is currently the #4 most viewed gospel video on VEVO. A powerful worship leader, Cobbs first ministered “Break Every Chain” at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Woman Thou Art Loosed Conference in Atlanta, GA.  Moved by the power of her ministry and voice, Jakes invited her back for the New Year’s Eve service at the Potter’s House in Dallas. In addition, Cobbs had two recent guest appearances on TBN’s Praise the Lord program, where the single was well received by the show’s international audience.

Cobbs is currently taking her ministry on the road with a promotional tour that kicked off in Atlanta at Higher Living Christian Church (January 27); with visits that continued to Northview Christian Church in Dothan, and Montgomery, AL (January 30 and 31); and returning to Atlanta to Changing A Generation Ministries (February 3). The promotional tour will continue on to Lindenwold, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Houston, TX; Baltimore, MD; Washington, DC; New Orleans, LA; Chicago, IL; and Jacksonville, FL (see list of dates below).

Anthony Brown

In life there will always be those places where you experienced great moments, for Anthony Brown, one of those places was Morgan State University. It was while attending the university, that Brown was blessed with the idea of forming the vocal ensemble we now know as group therAPy.

So yes, Morgan State is a special place for Brown which is why this upcoming event means so much.

On Sunday December 2nd, Anthony Brown & group therAPy will return to their old stomping grounds to perform at the WEAA 88.9FM Radio 3rd Annual Gospel Grace Legends Concert, held at Morgan State University in the Murphy Fine Arts Center.

The entire concert will be a constant musical celebration with special performances by Gospel artists’ Donald Lawrence & Co., Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago, Tasha Cobbs and the Morgan State University Choir.

WEAA 88.9 Radio will also honor Dr. Jamal Bryant of Empowerment Temple, Bishop Clifford M. Johnson, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant Church and Ministries as well as Bishop Dewayne Debnam of Morning Star Baptist Church.

Anthony Brown & group therAPy are excited to join WEAA and other fellow gospel artists for such a momentous event at Morgan State University on December 2nd.  For more information about the 3rd Annual Gospel Grace Legends concert, please visit: www.weaa.org

Tasha Cobbs 300x300

Tasha Cobb has always had a big voice and a big smile!  She is an acclaimed Praise and Worship leader and serves as the Worship Pastor at The Dream Center in Atlanta Georgia under Pastor William Murphy and she is Worship Leader of the Young Adult Division of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International under the direction of Bishop Paul S. Morton.

Tasha released a CD in 2009 entitled “Smile” and we have heard several of the songs on other projects over the past 4 years.  Her time has come! She recently signed with EMI Gospel and has a live recording coming up this Thursday!

Tasha Cobb is recording live on Thursday June 14th at Northview Christian Church at 6:00pm.  The address is 500 East Dale Loop Montgomery Alabama 36117. The live recording is free.

Make plans to attend if you are in the area.

Vashawn Mitchell Live Recording

On Monday April 30th, 2012, Vashawn Mitchell, held a live recording in the Chicago area.  He streamed the recording live and at one time there were about 1,500 people logged on to the livestream to view.

I am pleased to announce that Vashawn has another great CD on the horizon for 2012.  He announced a preliminary release date of August 28th if all goes as planned.

Atlanta represented at the recording. The concert opened up Tasha Cobb setting the atmosphere in praise and worship with her songs “Happy” and “Smile”.  She looked amazingly slim with noticeable weight loss and she sounded better than ever.  Brian Chase Williams conducted the normal clap and worship preparation that we see at live recordings.   Byron Cage made an appearance with his interesting plaid jacket and stylish glasses.

The overall sound for the evening was closer to CCM, but Vashawn did it well with the help of Anthony Brown directing the intricately woven background vocalists.  The band was smoking!  Vashawn mentioned that he asked God for a “free sound”.  I believe he achieved it last night.

The recording began with a song that I’ll call “Release Your Praise” that at one point started to sound like Kierra Sheard’s “You Are” when they got to the Hallelujah’s in the drive but it was a fabulous opening song.  The second song had the words:

God is faithful, Faithful is our God
All I needed you have provided
Heavenly father faithful to me

Israel Houghton made a guest appearance on a song written by Steve McCoy from Baltimore Maryland that Vashawn said he believed would be sung by praise teams all over the world.  Some of the words to the song are as follows:

Jesus is the greatest man I know, maker of the moon, stars, the land and sea
Worthy lamb of God, Oh he’s the greatest man I know

The vamp of the song “Nobody Like our God” opened up the door for Vashawn to slip back into a reprise of “Nobody Greater” followed by “Name Above All Names” and “Our God is Greater”.  Israel played the guitar, sang a verse and ad-libbed at the end.  This will prove to be one of the best songs on the CD and I hope it’s the lead single, but we’ll see.

One of the other favorites of the evening was a song that Vashawn wrote based on his experience after the success of “Nobody Greater”.   Some of the words included “Sooner or Later, It will turn in your favor”… Anthony Brown and Tasha Cobb blessed us on the hook and John P. Kee mentioned the following on Twitter:

I agree it was the hook of the night and I dare say that this song will be a huge hit because the words reach across generations. It was all over but to shout and they did!

Kierra Sheard appeared on a song and took us all the way in!  She is such a powerful vocalist! Some of the words to that song are: I will lift my hands, I will worship, I will honor you, I will lift my voice in adoration, That what I was created to do.

The highlight of the night was Fantasia Barrino and her mother led a throwback song with Vashawn.  Yes! He recorded “The Potter’s House”. The background vocals were amazing on this song- Hats off to Anthony Brown! Fantasia was ready to let loose and finally did by bringing the song back in with a reprise.  Her mother exhorted the people to say yes to the Lord while Fantasia was bowed down in worship.  I pray all of that session makes the recording.

Overall, this is going to be a great project for Vashawn.  Fans should not expect “Nobody Greater” because he clearly isn’t there anymore.  He’s moved on the greater things so there is no comparison between the two.  When this project comes out, we all need to support. Keep your eyes open for the release date.

Myron Butler is back with his new gospel cd, “Worship”, which is set to be released everywhere on January 24th, 2012.  The CD was originally scheduled for release in September but has been held until January.

The live recording for this project was held in Dallas Texas at the Irving Bible College.  With songstresses such as Tasha Cobbs on “Not My Own” and Blanche McAllister-Dykes on “Holy One” and Myron’s carefully crafted and crisp background vocal arrangements, this CD is sure to please.  Don’t forget to pick it up.. SET A REMINDER!!
